When the fourth and final season of Prison Break ended, it left a few loose ends in the story. Sure, you see a short recap of where all the characters are, 4 years later. But what happened right after the Scylla incident?

This is where Prison Break: The Final Break takes place. In reality, 2 more episodes were produced, “The Old Ball and Chain” and “Free”, but were never aired. This film is the story of those episodes.  Shortly after the events of season 4, Michael and Sara get married but that happiness is short lived when the police arrest Sara for the murder of Christina. Now faced with a $100,000 bounty on her head from General Krantz and the fact that even the prison guards want her dead, it’s only a matter of time before the deed is done. Meanwhile, on the outside, Michael and associates are planning one last prison break.

The Final Break returns to the roots of the show where the main theme was actually breaking out of prison and not these 24 type episodes we saw later on. There are even guest appearance made by Gretchen Morgan along with the General and T-Bag. Probably the biggest revelation is that we learn more about the events surrounding Michael’s death.

Those of you looking for a lot of extras from the show should look elsewhere as there are not much found on the DVD. There are some deleted scenes and that’s it. Most of the stuff can be found in the season 4 bonus features anyway.

If you’re itching for more Prison Break after watching the season finale, then this movie is perfect for you. It doesn’t feel like some made-for-TV film just to fill in all the gaps and please the fans but rather a well thought out production. Even if you’re not a Prison Break fan, you’ll probably find it enjoyable.
