Because a lady never tells:

Magnus is 157 years old.

At the end of season 2 we had a two episode cliffhanger that ended with Big Bertha aka Kali, a super abnormal, sending a tsunami that was going to wipe out millions of people. It was a tug of war between Magnus and Terrence Wexford, an operative from the Sanctuary Network, on the way in which to handle Bertha. Magnus realized the symbiotic relationship between Bertha and the Earth and suggested that they contain the super abnormal while Terrence, on a complete power trip, took the matter into his own hands deploying depth charges and firing missiles at Bertha, that being the action in which Bertha retaliated and sent the tsunami on its way. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. I’d suggest, if you have a Netflix account, using their watch it now feature to catch up on Sanctuary season 2 if you haven’t already seen these episode.

Sanctuary Season 2 started off strong but wound up becoming this monster feature deal that had an unbalanced incoherent storytelling mechanism and then ended with Kali Parts I & II which was a fantastic close out series. In season 3 we have Kali Part III and Firewall. A good indication that Sanctuary Season 3 will not only have a core story that will follow the series as a whole but its going to be a good one. Magnus is being undermined at every turn by Wexford and caught in-between Wexford and Forsythe, the man responsible for all the trouble. To make matters worse Will, who still has a connection with Kali, is forced to make a last ditch decision in order to make one last plea with Kali to save the millions of people about to die in the massive tsunami but the cost might very well be his own life. In the turn of events that follow Magnus and company may find themselves in the middle of a huge revelation concerning Kali and a ghost from Magnus’ past.

I am extremely excited about this new season which will step into new realms never before seen in Sanctuary (or at least that’s what I’ve been lead to believe after the finale of Firewall. Isn’t that exciting?). I still absolutely cannot stand the character of Kate Freelander played by Agam Darshi who, to me, has the female equivalent bark of Steven Segal, horrible timing and all. While I had been hoping for her character to go on her merry way to be replaced by a far better character it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon. Still what an amazing and hopeful beginning for Sanctuary. Let’s just hope the writers stick to the plotline this time around and, oh yeah, bring back Tesla. As always final judgment is yours. Enjoy.
