Movie soundtracks can be hit or miss. There are soundtracks that feature old music, new music, or even a combination of both. Unfortunately for I, Frankenstein the entire soundtrack is just one band, Maker. There is one song from 8mm, but everything else is Maker. That’s a pretty heavy burden to throw on one band, especially when their providing music for the whole soundtrack and not the score. So how does it sound?

Think Stabbing Westward or Snake River Conspiracy or both. It’s rock music mixed with electronica themed in the dark and gloomy. At best it’s a fine showcase for the band, which honestly I think would have been better off just putting out an album under their own moniker using this material. Since it’s not, everything pretty much has the same vibe. It doesn’t offer up a whole lot of diversity as far as imagining what the film would be like using only this soundtrack. It seems like a bit of a gamble, but time will tell if the film finds greatness boosting its soundtrack to glory or if it will all go down quickly forgotten.

The album includes 10 tracks from Maker, 1 track from 8mm, and one track from Maker member Geno Leonardo featuring fusion guitar master Prashant Aswan .
