I wouldn’t say that I’m a big fan of Bobcat Goldthwait but I am a big fan of the movies he’s been in. One Crazy Summer is a good one but my favorite would have to be Burglar where he played Carl Hefler, Whoopie Goldberg’s oddball friend. When he goes after that bartender, that was a scene that will live in my memory forever. Then there wasn’t much to watch with old Bobcat in it. In his stand up he says he did Hollywood Squares but that’s a show I never bothered with. In any case it was interesting to find his stand up “You Don’t Look The Same Either” in my workload. What was this? Really? A Bobcat Goldthwait stand up? We’ll see how that goes down.

Old Bobcat takes a few minutes to get into his audiences head. I think when he embraces the fact that he’s the old guy in the room he runs with it and breaks the ice just enough to allow the real Bobcat Goldthwait to stand up and be heard. One word “AWKWARD”.

Apparently Bobcat doesn’t mince words when it comes to his comedic approach. Tackling Michael Bolton, Michael Jackson, George W. Bush, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is just the tip of the iceberg as true stories collide with hilarious but awkward comedy. I just sat there on my couch laughing until the tears began to fall down, but at the same time shaking my head and thinking, “He can’t say that. Did he really just say that?”  It was a conflicting performance that, in the end, proved just too funny to be shocked by, and I think it’s because Bobcat humbles his comedy with personal stories that just happen to either be naturally hilarious or bullshit, but worth hearing.

The only real con that I have with the performance is that it runs a paltry 57 minutes long and that there are no bonus features. It would have been awesome to see some deleted stories or something. It’s most definitely an experience that you won’t soon forget. If your easily offended I would suggest caution. For everyone else, well worth taking the time to catch old Bobcat Goldthwait making with the funny. Enjoy.
