Title: James Bond Blu-ray: Volume Three (The World is Not Enough, Goldfinger, Moonraker) Genre: Action/Adventure Starring: Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery Director: Guy Hamilton, Michael Apted, Lewis Gilbert Studio: MGM Runtime: 359 Minutes Release Date: March 24, 2009 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 3 Rating: ( )Grade: B+ SCI FI? Goldfinger marks the first appearance of a laser beam in a movie. This is the third wave of 3 James Bond movies to be released on blu-ray. The first two sets were released at the same time. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order of releasing other than consisting of a movie featuring Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery and Roger Moore. There were actually FIVE Bond blu-rays debuting on March 24, counting Quantum of Solace and the no technically Bond movie because of legal reasons, Never Say Never Again (which will never be part of these box sets). QUALITY: Goldfinger: Great. Surprisingly, this one has the best quality of the entire set. The sound is a little off. Moonraker: Good. The picture is ok for the age of the movie but the 15 year senior Goldfinger is actually better. The sound on this one, however, is the best of the two. BONUS FEATURES: Goldfinger: Featurettes, interviews, commentary, screen tests. Moonraker: Featurettes, video tests, commentary, trailer, documentaries. The bonus features are certainly heavy, especially surprising for the older Moonraker and Goldfinger. Unfortunately, a lot of them on The World is Not Enough are a little dull. The quality is a little mixed throughout, with Goldfinger being easily the best overall. The set itself is all cardboard with the DVDs stuck in on the cardboard with sticky foam. Aside from the all cardboard design, the overall look of the set is beautiful. Pictures: |
